Buying the right apartment can be an investment. Invest in an apartment that no one wants and you’ve got a bad investment that you just can’t get rid of. Here are the areas you should consider when investing in a unit.

Size- Apartments need to be suitable for your lifestyle. For example, if you are someone who entertains or is thinking of starting your own family, space is necessary. On the other hand, if you are a bachelor/spinster and spend most of your time at work or out, a smaller apartment will do just fine.

Rental demand- You have to understand that circumstances may change and your unit should be one that will be demand.

Location – Is the apartment block in a safe area? Is it noisy? is it close to a school district?

Height – You would want to be higher up in your building as this will give you the best views with less noise. The higher your apartment is, the higher it will cost. Therefore, if you are on a budget, choose an apartment that is at least 10 floors up.

Parking – Check if parking is provided in your building’s basement and how many slots each apartment receives. Is there visitor parking?. Will 24 hour security be provided? Some apartment buildings provide basement storage, which can be really useful and save you space.

Manager – Who manages the building? Is there an on-site manager or is the building managed by a corporate committee? Are there any fees for services provided ? If so, what is provided for this payment?
